Dear Cascades Elementary School Community,

I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to you as your new principal! My name is Willie R. Lewis Jr., and I have the honor of leading Cascades Elementary School, a place that holds a special connection to my heart. In fact, I walked the halls of the former Cascades as  a fourth-grader, and it feels like a wonderful homecoming to return to the same vibrant community that nurtured my early education.

I come to you with valuable experiences as a secondary principal at both Jackson Pathways High School and as a grade-level principal at Jackson High School. I was blessed to work in the same building that helped to shape my teenage years, having graduated from Jackson High with the class of 1989. The shift to being an elementary principal and working with younger students and families excites me as I embrace the challenge and growth this opportunity provides.

I am deeply passionate about our community and dedicated to fostering an environment where teaching and learning thrive. This year, I have set three primary goals that will guide my efforts and vision for Cascades Elementary:

  1. Connect with Families, Students, and Instructional Staff: Building strong relationships is the foundation of a successful school community. I look forward to engaging with you, understanding your perspectives, and collaborating for the best interests of our children.

  2. Prioritize Academic Success: Together, we will focus on providing every student with quality educational experiences that promote their academic growth. I believe in nurturing a love for learning that will empower our students for future success.

  3. Get Better Every Day: Commitment to continuous improvement is essential. I will not only seek to apply new understandings but also encourage our students and staff to do the same. Learning is an ongoing journey, and I am excited to embark on this journey together.

I look forward to a fantastic year filled with growth, learning, and achievement. Thank you for welcoming me into the Cascades Elementary family. Let’s make this a remarkable school year together!
